Hi there,
I started the semester with some anxiety, now that that is gone, I feel apathetic toward everything. My personality and mood completely changes every second semester. I don't like college this semester. People are boring and the topic is also. No focus. i don't care much about the goals I had. Why does this happen to me. I've asking this question for a month now. I don't want to faitl, but I also don't want to do work. First semester, I'm usually really perky, stressed, goal-oriented and sensitive. Now I am the opposite. I don't give a shiite about anything. I don't live with regrets second semester.

You are making very WEIRD choices. Look at it this way. Kids in third world countries barely have a chance to go to primary school. You have ALL YOU NEED - and now you have the opportunity to go to college!!! But you feel apathetic!?!?!?!? Very weird choice!! (Kind of stupid - actually - if I may be blunt)
Here's how you get your focus back. Start counting your blessings. Write them all down. You had a warm shower this morning. There are people who love you. You have a home to live in. You have food. You saw a beautiful sunset - WHATEVER - write them all down - and when you think you can think of no more - KEEP GOING! You should have hundreds and hundreds of them. More really.
THEN - think about where you want to be 10 years from now - and what you'll need in order to be there. I'll bet a college degree will be necessary.
You are CHOOSING to be bored. You are CHOOSING to not focus. You are choosing your apathy. These are your choices. Your choices are one of the FEW things in life that you have TOTAL control over. If you're smart - you'll take advantage of that - and make good ones.
Blessings!!

are you a freshman? you dont care about school because you dont enjoy what you are doing and have no motivation to progress through it. change your major, take a semester off, do anything that you will enjoy and maybe you will find your true path and what you want to do for the rest of your life. DO NOT drop out of college. I am not insulting the people here who work in retail or make near minumum wage but thats how america is these days. A college degree will give your more oppurtunity (you can still end up at mcdonalds but you have a better chance or getting a high paying job than someone who didnt go to college). Every college student goes through this but in the end, college is the best time of your life. Just take a few elective classes and see what you like to do. Dont give up i believe in you!

You are just destracted by all the things you would rather be doing. I think this is normal. new things are exciting and fun until they get old and then they are boring and seem more like a job. The only thing is just toget your head back on straight and remeber to still make time for yourself after classes. Do something for yourself so you dont feel like a slave to the books.Anything worth while takes time and work, the good things in life dont come easy. Im sure you have already thought of this but you will regret it if you quit now after all that you have completed so far. This is just one small phaze in your life and you wont be so easily defeated. Good Luck and Good health

Why do you keep asking this same question? Are you not getting the answer you want and you're just going to keep asking it until you do? It doesn't work that way. You know, dropping out of college isn't going to change anything--except that you'll never go back. I guarantee it. If you drop out, your depression will still be with you. Making a change like that will only hurt you more. Get counseling and stay in school. Unless you like being miserable.

Drop out of school and get a minimum wage job. I did. Then you will learn that you cannot give up or stop trying just because, well it isn't interesting. A minimum wage job where the boss is standing over you making you do the work will make you understand that you can't just give up when it gets dull. You have to stick with it and get tough. When mean unsatisfied customers ar e yelling their heads off at you. It puts the opportunity to learn in a whole different light. for encouragement, listen to ttb.org.

Well here is your choices drop school and work some dull job the rest of your life or grab yourself by the boot straps and meet your goals, a good career is important for a life time, a crummy factory job means no retirement benefits and struggle all of your life. So whats your choice?

Maybe you should take some classes in a different subject than your major. I was a biology major, and taking one class each term that had nothing to do with science helped me to focus.
If that still doesn't help, consider other majors. Its better to figure out that you are on the wrong path now, rather than getting a job and then realizing you got the wrong degree.

i had the same problem. i started out in aug 05 for college and by spring of 06, i was going through what you are right now. i had so much going on, and i just didn't have the care for college any more. no matter who pays for your college right now (and if someone other than you is, i would let them know how you feel about it....) you need to think of the fact that by staying in school, you are wasting time. yours, your teachers, and the other students. i hate to say it, but i think that you should stop your schooling until you are ready for it. right now, you're not. you don't like the topics, your interest is in other areas right now. clear your head by stepping out of the ring of college fire and take a breather....

Do you smoke weed? You are just confused as to what you want to do. Do you pay for college or does your folks? Well if the answers is what I think it is, you don't pay for it so you don't have the same connection as if you were using your own money. I would back out until you figure out what it is you want, your daddy won't be so happy but at least you are no waisting his money.

Get a part time job at Mc D's and see how you'd like to spend the rest of your life flipping burgers to see if it helps regain focus.
