can you actually see the mast at emley moor from the 1079 at market weighton

Yes you can. My brother used to live at Emley Crossroads and from his house you could see right across West and East Yorkshire. There's nothing inbetween Market Weighton and the mast to block the view.
At the moment Emley Moor Mast is clearly visible on the skyline, from Market Weighton it will be almost due west and if you look through binoculars you'll be able to count the 8 or so red aircraft warning lights on it.
As for how far you can see from Emley Moor - 57 kilometres, from the top of the mast - 87 kiolmetres. The curvature of the earth prevents you seeing further.

Where are you Market Weighton on the A1079 or on the heights of Emley Moor ?- Without getting in the car and nipping up the road I cannot tell. I suspect that the higher you are ( on the Moor ) the further you will be able to see. Go and look !

I can see Emley Moor mast very well...I just have to open my back door and look as I'm in Skelmanthorpe...though coming home from Leeds tonight at least three of the lights on the mast went out! Coming up the M1 from the south we start to see the mast around Sheffield area...that's quite some way.
Trevor...bet your brother is glad he doesn't live at the crossroads anymore as there was ANOTHER pile up there last week!

depends on how good your eyesight is, should be a long way.
