I always use a chuck roast when making pot roast--regardless of whether I'm cooking it on the stove top, oven or crock pot. It's generally not very tender, but it has the best flavor of all the roasts out there, and 8 - 10 hours in the crock pot (or 3 hours in the oven) make it fork tender. :) Makes excellent gravy, too.

you need to use the bottom round roast with the tip at the end. which would be a bottom round RUMP roast. much more tender than the bottom round roast.
325 15-20 minutes per pound will melt in your mouth

Go for a rump roast, it shreds the best. In order to get the texture you desire, use two forks when you are done cooking it and just pull it apart rather than slicing.

Bottom round or chuck You can also ask for a "Silver Tip" roast, that is equally tasty. When getting the bottom round, ask for the "first cut" instead of the "flat cut."
