depends on the guy.. you need a guy who is nice to everyone.. you dont want a guy who is nice to you only and an *** to everyone else because that person would not be right for you.

generally i can open doors for girls i like however sometimes i do it to be polite or friendly..

if a girl is very vry far behind me i wont wait a minute holding the door (making the effort) but if shes close behind i would.

however if the person is far behind me and i like them i may wait a minute just so they notice ive held the door open until they arrived. hope this makes sense lol =\

well anyway if this guy is self centred be friends first to find out. ive seen shy people who act like jerks but usually the shy ones are usually the nice people :)

my other thought was.. that your friend may be telling you lies about that he is self centred.. this might be so you dont like him.. she could be controling who you date or might like the guy her self. not to be blunt but this could be true, your best bet is to speak to the guy about your feelings asap.

make a move and good luck :)

I have no idea about whether he's shy or self centered, but if he's nice to you whether or not he's polite to other girls, he's probly worth holding on to.

To answer your question, I try to be a gentleman to everyone b/c it makes me feel good. But it does help attract women b/c they like to be treated with respect.

Old rule of thumb:

If the person you are having dinner with is nice to you and rude to the waitress, he is not a nice person.
