respect is a two way street, and to get respect you have to earn it, its not something you get by demanding it.

There is a trend now among some Christians to not see tolerance as a virtue. They feel being tolerant of people who don't live according to what they feel is right or those who don't believe in what they believe is wrong. Their idea is that God finds such people offensive and wants them to convert all these people or create a theocracy where they can legislate against them. Not all Christians are like this but an alarming number are like this. I think there is a knee jerk reaction in the movement against the fact the world is becoming increasingly secular and it is threatening to them. I may see this as a positive development and want to encourage it but they see it as a threat to be fought against. Truth is that a secular society is the more tolerant society but it wouldn't be biased toward Christians as the one we have the US now is.

It's because many of them say they say they love the sinner, but hate the sin. Really, the two are the same thing in their eyes, despite the way they word it. For example, if they pretend to love a gay person but hate that person for having gay sex, then what is the difference? Who can feel any love from Rev. John Hagee when he boils over and goes on about liberals and gays? Where is the love that will draw people to that? It really boils down to a big game of words that they play ... to appear to be loving while covering up their real feelings. Also, it makes them look good if they sound holy and full of knowledge from the Bible, or that God talks to them and gives them leadership roles -- while they do whatever they want in private.

This world has believers and non-believers. Sometimes, these people are nice and respectful, sometimes they aren't. It's like any other category of people. I could say 'Why do Dad's always beat their kids?' but in truth, not all Dad's do that kind of thing.

You need to use your head to sort out all kinds of information you receive throughout the day, and throughout your life. If you cannot tolerate doing so, you are an intolerable. :)

Amen!!!

Christ was not a "Christian".
Jews were not a race, but a religious folk in the Roman empire.
"Christians" are not people who refuse money, slavery, dehumanization, and organized religion.
"Christians" are simply the majority of the religious folks in the western world.

Spirituality= Human's innermost relationship with nature, and his or her own God. This is What Christ taught people about!

Religion= Man's atempt to define, and control spirituality

Some self-professed Christians seem to have left the love reservation when judging some of their responses here or in their daily lives. That does not mean all Christians fall into your broad categorizations.

The bible is not a book of hatred, but one of God's revelation of His love for us all. That is how the book should be used and interpreted. But, we must remember that God does not sugar coat his righteous hatred for sin and says as much in the bible.

A perfectly righteous and just being will necessarily view sin as anathema. This is a formally correct logical argument, not just some rant of a fanatic. One must understand or appreciate logic, philosophy, and theology in order to grasp why the bible contains many instances of God pouring out his judgment on the sinful.

Just as we expect justice for crimes in this world, so does this being, God. Fortunately, a perfect being, God will render perfect justice, too.

Friend as a Christian for 37 yrs. I have never expect anyone to honor or respect my beliefs, In fact without me ever saying anything period to any unbelievers, They have dis-respect me to a certain degree, without me even talking, But just for your information. I have work with make-believers, unbelievers, atheists, & I just retired from my employer of 38 yrs. & guess what the unbeleivers said to me, They told me that they will miss me, because out of all that claims to be a Christians there, They saw something in my life they knew was different, & they will miss that, & also concerning an athesit I worked with. He died from cancer, but just before he died, He called me on the phone wanting to talk, I wonder why.
