Why don't you just tell your parents you need help. Instead of wondering if they know or if they are going to confront you about it. You know you need help, so do it. Your parents HAVE to know. They may not understand why you are depressed and that's ok. That's for you and your counselor to work on. Your parents WILL get you the help you need.

Don't wait write to your counselor as soon as you can. If this is whom your comfortable with. You are already trying to better yourself and I applaud you for it. You want and need the help. The faster you get it the faster you will feel better. And you deserve to feel better. To be happy and move forward with your life. You are not alone. Many people suffer from depression. You can get through this. Your parents may be able to help you too. But because you are unsure I think you should speak with the counselor first then take it from there. The counselor will know what to do. Good luck.

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy - It's about changing the way you look at life. It's based purely on science.

Good Luck :)

I would be very upset if one of my children were cutting themselves and they couldn't trust me enough to tell me. I say just tell your parents. You need help.

get help now! go see your counsellor or use a community health service, its a shame you dont feel you can confide in your parents, they would be in a good position to help you, do you have another trusted friend to talk to who could support you with your problem, its not so scary to seek help if you have somenone with you, good luck with it
