the one you love has your heart in their hands, it's easier to feel the pain, it's not that they hurt you more, it's just easier to feel the hurt

I think that the ones we love hurt us like they do, because they know us well, better than others...not saying that they do this intentionally, but we also create expectations from them and when they fall short, we hurt sometimes. I'm sure we do the same to them. Good question.

We choose to feel the hurt. Nobody can make you hurt...but it's quite normal to choose to feel it when someone wrongs us or betrays us or lies to us.

It hurts more when it's done by someone we love, because we care more. If we didn't feel hurt when those things occured, it would mean we didn't care (so love would likely be absent).

It seems that the more familiar you are with a love, the more they take things for granted. It is true, and I have seen this happen over and over many times. Familiarity breeds contempt. Sad to say, but so very true.

Because we love them, we put our guard down, exposing ourselves and end up taking a chance on getting hurt. Which usually......most do.

Because they just don't know how to love and probably wouldn't know true love if it smacked them in the face.

I THINK THE QUESTION IS: WHY WOULD WE LOVE SOMEONE THAT HURTS US?

Because they can - they have the means to do so. Who else to we leave ourselves vulnerable and open to?
