I am very shy and do not know how to approach people that i dont allready have something in common with. How can i overcome this?

first try and make lots of friends that have someting in common with u, then expand ur own intrests and make more friends. its gonna be hard but u can do it!
my friend used to only have two friends, me and this other girl. she was really shy now after three yrs of wat i told u, shes made a million friends, and is braver than before!!!! im rly proud of her.. ur friends will be too!

The way to get over this is to realize that you have something in common with everyone. You just need to find what it is that you share.

This could be something as easy as seeing someone watching basketball and you yourself liking hoops or as vague as being at the same place together. For instance a bar, you hit the person with "This place is pretty packed, does it always get this crowded?"

Keep in mind that some people are more receptive to being approached than others. Do not be offended if someone gives you the cold shoulder. Who cares? In all honesty, if that person doesn't want to talk to you, then you are better off not being their friend anyway.
