My favorite fishing destination has been Lake Huites in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Sinaloa, Mexico. The fishing is incredible for Florida strain largemouth bass. The food, lodge, equipment and guides are very good. The margaritas are free and pack a powerful punch too. If you plan on fishing Mexico then look up my old buddy "Wild Bill Skinner" at this link.

Added: When I can't get away for an extended fishing trip I go to the best spot within a 500 mile radius of my home. The bass grow to over 14 lbs, crappie run on average 10" channel cat over 7 lbs. It's a pond of 160 acres with maximum depth of 8', can only be fished by small craft or by wading(I use a 14' jon boat with bow mount Minn Kota), has no boat ramp, is supplied year-round with fresh running water. My biggest bass caught there was 9.6 lbs on a zoom lizard in 3' of water. I am sorry to admit it's location is a highly gaurded secret by myself and a very few anglers fortunate enough to have access. You didn't think I would tell you where my "honey hole" is did you?

I have 2 favorite fishing spots one is saltwater the other is freshwater. For the saltwater nothing beats Port Aransas, TX in my opinion.
Now for freshwater anywhere in Alaska (Kenai River, Russian River, Clear AFB, Chena River just to name a few) that I can wet a line and have a good time.
