I am 33, and have just lost a couple of stone to become a healthy weight after too many years of eating rubbish. I'm really getting into eating healthy and run 4 - 5 times a week for about 30 mins. I tried a local gym for the first time the other day and found myself using the weight machines which I really enjoyed. I think I could really get into bodybuilding but I don't know what I'm doing. Can anyone help?

Firstly do you wish to get big and muscular, or do you wish to stay lean, but fit. My husband needs to know what you actually want to achieve before he can help you. He has been bodybuilding for approximately 18 years and his friend owns a gym in the U.K.

Without knowing your weight or diet its hard but it would be easier to point you in the right direction. Nutrition is keystone to being a body builder or just livivng the lifestyle as well as a solid workout plan and proper rest and recovery.

And to tell you the truth its amazing here are some links to great sites with very informative articles. Just a heads up the prime muscle/size builders are the deadlift, squat, bench, overhead presses, pullups, rows, dips reserach these a bit and incoporate them into your routine to make really solid gains all the time.

What worked for me was to find friends who work out and just ask them questions whenever you have one. I was a skinny guy until last summer when I decided I wanted to bulk up. I just talked with friends who worked out to get good ideas on it. Also there is a wealth of information on google if you just search for 'beginning weightlifting routine"

I depends on what your trying to biuld up. If you liked the machine, you should use it three times a week. Don't use a machine to much though. You risk the chance of straining your muscles. Good luck.

I would recommend a personal trainer. There are many variables, and I dont want to tell you anything that would cause you to get hurt.
