Back when I was dating, and not married, I cheated one time. I had 2 girlfriends at the same time. Lord, I really regretted it because everyone involved got hurt, and I felt like I aged 5 years in 2 months. One of the girls ended going to counseling over it, and I felt like a real As*hole. Cheating can really devastate someone. Since that time, I have never had the desire to cheat. The Ramifications are not worth the short term pleasures.
The secret to avoiding temptation for me is to not put myself in that kind of situation. I can't avoid looking, but I can certainly keep my non-marital relationships platonic.
My initial reason for cheating was purely sexual. Then I had feelings for both women.

In my experience, neither sex has a monopoly or advantage when it comes to cheating. Women cheat, men cheat. It is just how it is.
Why do they cheat? Well, usually it is something missing in the relationship that thye are trying to find. For instance, let's say there is a girl working in an office and going to college who is with a guy who barely got his GED and is working at Mickey D's. The girl might be looking for someone who is a bit more educated, someone who she can talk to on her intellectual level. Same thing for the guy, maybe he can't truly relate to her, so he cheats.
Relationships seem so easy in the movies, but in reality there are many factors that have to line up perfectly for a relationship to work. In the past society ignored the problems and just dealt with it. Nowadays in a society where choice is everything, things have to be perfect for us to stay committed. Maybe we were better off before.

cheated twice
both times I had some justification
it was convenient and I was horny
it was with ex's that i cheated
and both times it was the ex's that came looking for me
not me going after them
but no excuse
i broke my promise twice

when I caught my husband cheating on me, his comment was NOT "Im sorry I wont do it again" (even if he didnt mean it) his comment WAS "Get over it, all men cheat"!!!!!!!!!! We are legally seperated now
