I remember when I was a kid the birds would leave during the winter and return during the spring. But now for the past 4 or 5 yrs. they haven't. For instance right now there is snow and ice on the ground, yet the birds are still around. Have they evolved or something? It's so weird it seems like their little bodies couldn't survive this weather, yet here they are.

fergalicious: pigeons, sparrows, crows do not seem like migrating birds, but those that do like geese & ducks appear to stay because mankind has given them food & a habitat in which they can survive during the winter months.Yes,mankind is distroying our eco-system it is very sad.

I am a scientist from the university of birds. after much research unique species, birds, i have to the conclusion that over time the food the bird lady throws out in chicago has weighed the birds down. therefore, their stomaches weigh too much and their boules are very firm. this causes great lower abdominal pain, sometimes even results in explosion of the bird body, when they reach an altitude of 73.5 ft. anymore questions, just ask professor BOB BIRD.

People are probably leaving enough food for them so they don't need to go south where it's warmer to find food.
