I have had it for 1.5 days. I am using Preparation H. Is there anything else I can do?

Home treatment is recommended for most external hemorrhoids. Treatment includes sitting in a warm bath several times daily, gradually increasing fiber and water in your diet, and occasional use of stool softeners. You can often prevent hemorrhoids or keep them from becoming worse by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Eat a fiber-rich diet of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains; drink plenty of water; and exercise regularly.

It takes a long time for hemmorroids to clear up. They are like varicose veins and the blood is pooling in the area. You're doing the right thing using the P-H. You might want to take a sootheing warm bath with epson salts (softens the skin) and be sure to drink alot of water. Take a stool softener also until they are gone because any straining will only exacerbate the problem. Stay off of your feet when you can. You can buy cortisone cream 10% extrastrength over the counter and apply to the outside of the rectum. There are also little applicators that can be filled with water and frozen then inserted to help reduce swelling (look online). Take anti-inflammatories like aspirin or ibuprophen on a regular basis. If this doesn't help in a week, see a doc. I feel your pain! Hope you recover soon. Godloveya.

Soak in a tub of hot salt water. It will help it alot. Also take some tylenol or other over the counter pain medication.
Do not scratch it if it starts to itch, it will only get worse.
Hope you feel better.

Hemorrhoids cannot be cured without surgery. They are premanent and are varicose veins of the rectum. If they bother you then use the Prep H otherwise you do not need to do anything at all about it.

A gastroenterologist can destroy it with an infrared treatment. It's best to do that soon, because it can progressto a point where it's very difficult to eradicate.
