It is ALWAYS wrong to lie about your religion in order to get converts. Since lying is prohibited in the ten commandments, it seems kind of pointless to lie for that purpose. However, I believe since many organized religions exist for the sole purpose of obtaining money from people, they would rather lie to get them in (so they can get their tithes) than tell the truth, and lose their money altogether.
