When we actively protest against a war, our enemies see that we are divided and are strengthened by this knowledge. At home, anyone who disagrees with the war, after the fighting begins, is considered unpatriotic, or worse, a traitor.

We are fighing for Democracy. Democracy is the freedom and the right to choose for ourselves what is right and what is wrong. It is the freedom and right to speak freely to those around us and try to convince them to support what we support.

I believe that it is a moral obligation to speak out against what we believe is wrong, even if doing so is unpopular. Abraham Lincoln did it. Martin Luthor King did it. But what I want to know is, "How can I be a responsible American without being branded UnAmerican:?

One more thing:

How can wars end if noone is allowed to speak out against them?

You have asked truly problematic question. Look I served 2 tours in Iraq. Do I care that there were people protesting the war? No it is their right to do so. If I said hell no you can't say that then everything that i fought for was totally lost because I can't remember my own oath. I totally disagree with the war and I don't care if I am labeled as unpatriotic or a traitor. I did my job and my job is over my opinion is my opinion and because of a bill of rights that I had sworn to protect I am allowed to have my opinion

The answer is quite easy, the people who protest should protest against the ill faded policy, while still approving congressional funds to give our troops the best equipment out there. Wars end in one of two ways, The overwhelming force of a nation so crippled the will of the people that they submit an d capitulate. The other is when the people of a given country fail to support a policy because of no real results on the ground. So yes, you can support the troops, but be against the policy

In essence; you can't. It is impossible to be against a war but be for the people that are carrying out that war. Let me also say that no one "is for a war". No matter what the Democrats say, no one really wants a war unless they enjoy seeing people die like Hitler. Believing in a war means believing what we are fighting for. How can you not believe in freedom? Again, it doesn't matter that the Democrats say we only went to war or oil, because obviously we would have pulled out by now if that was true. The freedom of speech (as anti-war activists use so adamantly) is a right we want to share for the people of Iraq and not just the freedom of speech. The freedom to live.

How about this:

You war protesters need to change your slogan. Now you say "Withdrawal from Iraq" which would obviously mean utter defeat for the Iraqi people and increased terrorist attacks on US soil.

How about "Victory AND speedy withdrawal from Iraq".

I will agree with that one. No one WANTS war, but if we just leave tomorrow, the Iraqi people will hate us and try to destroy us even further. But if we can keep a peaceful government there, and then make a speedy withdrawal, then everyone will be happy.

You can't fight an idea with guns. Democracy is an idea, not a state. So you cannot say "we are fighting for democracy." Wars are fought against states and people, not ideas. You counteract ideas with other ideas, not with guns.

The basic problem with the Iraq fiasco is that the Bush administration sends our troops overseas at all. All American military might should be concentrated on defending America from invasion, not trying to force regime change on far-away hellholes.

Bush tried to make the 9/11 attack his excuse for a war. But when a group of individuals injures another group of individuals, that is a crime, not a war. Police methods should have been used to bring Osama Bin Laden to trial. Israel's Mossad did this very successfully with Adolf Eichman.

The utter failure of the Bush strategy is shown by the fact that Osama Bin Laden is still at large and indeed he is laughing at us. And Osama is recruiting more and more followers thanks to the failed Bush program.

But the Bush family has long been cozy with the Bin Laden clan so don't expect Bush to do anything against any Bin Laden family member. Bush prefers to try to convince us that Iraq is the threat. Unfortunately, a lot of Americans are easily suckered, and the tragedy is that three thousand good and brave men have died for the sake of George Bush's doomed and failed quest.

A House Divided Will Fall.
We all need to stand together and quit fighting each other. Right now, the terrorists are licking their chops while we fight amongst ourselves. I wonder what the anti-war people will say when we have another attack.

A soldier who volunteers has a vision and a heartfelt duty to do his/her duty to protect the nation to the point where they are willing to give their life for it. How can you cheer them on and give them morale support when you are against everything they are doing? If you go to work each day and come home dead tired and mentally and emotionally drained but you knew you did a good job and your spouce throws a fit when you walk in the doors saying they love you but hate your work how would you feel?

Why should servicemember be killed or maimed for a LIE?

And I will say this every chance I get.
The Invasion of IRAQ was predicated on a LIE.
Just in case people are still buying into Iraqi democracy fantasy.

Iraq is an illegal war and is not protecting our country, so we cannot support it. It is endangering our country.
There is NO reason to stay. The Iraqis do not want us there. Who would want invaders to stay? Why do you think they are attacking the invaders?
Iraqis are not children. They can fend for themselves. We need to stop our interfering.

We went there to attack and occupy a country on false pretenses and lies. 3,000+ of our people have died for nothing; not to mention the 700,000 of Iraqi civilians. Nobody thinks of the Iraqi children who will grow up to take revenge on the loss of their normal lives and the deaths of their parents.

Anyone who sees the Iraq invasion for what it really is, is going by what America really is, not by what ancient Britain, France, and Rome were (who all did what we are doing now). If you cannot see it, then your ancestors who left old England to come to the Americas came here for "freedom" for nothing; for we have learned nothing because we are doing what we escaped from.

Speaking up against the Iraq "war" is speaking up for democracy and true America freedom. It is speaking up for what is wrong.
