This would be a classic puncher vs. slugger match-up. I believe that they are equal in size. Joe has the edge in power and speed. Dempsey will probably have the edge in defense, stamina, and chin. This fight will probably not reach the distance because both are head-on fighters.
The fight will be good as long as it lasts. The one intangible that Dempsey has over Frazier, though, is experience. Sometimes, experience is the only advantage you need. Joe has a bull's tendency to charge toward you, looking to knock you out cold early. Dempsey has dealt with fighters like this countless times in his 80-plus bout career.
In the first few rounds, Dempsey will be looking to defend himself from Frazier's initial outburst. I see the early rounds going to Frazier. By the middle rounds, Frazier's power would have diminished greatly. Dempsey will use this to his advantage and try catching Frazier with some power shots of his own. I think by the late rounds, Dempsey would be the aggressor. I see him catching Frazier with suffocating flurries of punches. In my opinion, I think the great Jack Dempsey will defeat Joe Frazier via a TKO in the 12th or 13th.

I think Frazier was every bit as good as Tunney, if not better, which equates into a victory for Frazier against Dempsey. Frazier would be on Dempsey throughout and if the KO doesn't come, Frazier gets my decision. This is an excellent pairing and would have been a hell of a fight.

Dempsey would have cut Frazier down like a giant red wood. Dempsey was maybe the toughest fighter of all time.

Even though it's a fantasy question, you have to consider the fact that Dempsey wouldn't take on black challengers. I'll take Smokin Joe in a '70s era 15-rounder by decision; Dempsey by KO in the 19th round in his era.

Hmm, good fight. I think Frazier would knock him out in the 10th round. Guys were much stronger in the 70s than in the 'teens.

Smokin' Joe by split decision. As both warriors fall in the fight but both end the fight on their feet.
