(1) You can fetch a piece of software called a "firewall" that monitors transactions to and from the internet.
(2) You can set up your antivirus and antispyware software to perform scans automatically at set times of the day.

Most any decent anti-virus program will run in the background and alert you if a malicious program trys to enter your PC. While it is still a good idea to do a full scan at least once a week just to double check. Some good virus programs are AVG (this one is free and useful) Norton anti-virus, mcafee, and trend anti-virus (they also have a free on-line scan that is very good). It is also a good idea to download an anti-spy-ware program such as adaware or spybot S&D. These are all good suggestions but there is no substitute for watching what type of E-mails you open and what type of websites you download programs from, remember you are the best security you PC has.

Most virus scans will do that but there is still a need to run the scan weekly to ensure nothing is missed. No virusscan is perfect and it can only detect it sometimes not until the program is run. Try to get norton internet security and download adaware (free). This should help.

AVG does just that. It even tells you when an update is needed and goes ahead and updates, telling when it it through.

Get AVG. It is better than Norton (according to many gurus) and it is FREE.
