Try your local auctioneers, but I would think that you are going to have to take sometime off as you will either have to drop it off or be at home for the valuation, unless you arrange for them to visit you at work, however they will usually need to examine the painting in detail so they may take it away in which case they will charge you as for emailing pictures no auctioneer is going to be able to give you a valuation from pictures, depending on where you are you could try this Auctioneers

Valuations are often free provided you are putting your painting up for auction. You did not say what your painting is of! If it's a portrait of a deceased family member, even if it's a couple of hundred years old, it could be worthless. Portraits are only ever worth much if they are the work of a famous artist. For example, just suppose someone in your family had a line drawing of themselves done on the back of an envelope by David Hockney - it would be worth a small fortune, especially if it is signed.

You can email pics to Sothebys, but I would try sending it to their Olympia location, just go on their site and find the specialist that you need and email it to them. You can also fill out a form online at christies.com and attach images that way.

You could also google the artists name, find out what galleries if any exhibit/sell his work and ask them. They will still need a very good picture of it at least.
