You need to get it paid asap. Depending on how much time has gone by since your court date, they have most likely suspended your drivers license and issued a warrant for your arrest for Contempt of Court (When you don't show up for court or pay your fine). These things will add more to cost of clearing it all up but can all be done without having to be arrested or go to jail.
If you ignore it and get stopped for any reason at all, you face the possibility of receiving another ticket for whatever it is that you get stopped for plus getting a ticket for driving on a suspened license. This can in many cases result in your vehicle being towed (even more expense) and your being arrested (bail would be the cost of the original fine plus court costs for the contempt warrant. Now, you also have a new ticket to deal with as well. Borrow the money from friend or family, or put in some OT, but get it paid as soon as possible. Call the courts to make sure that they haven't already issued a contempt warrant and suspended your license. If they have, get the total you owe them and get it them asap. Then you'll have to take proof of your paying the fine and go get your license re-instated.
Good Luck.

Yep that is it. There is most definitely a warrant out for you. They do not care and will not come after you - but - should you be stopped or questioned or have contact with the police for any reason, they will arrest you on the spot and you will get jail time and a 2 or 3 thousand dollar fine. In jail, you lose your job, and when you get out - you pay on a schedule set by the court - job or no job - or it is back to jail. So, eat brown beans, ration cigarettes to 2 or 3 a day if you smoke, and do whatever you can and pay the 156 as you cannot afford what is coming.

Since you know about the short term problems whit this here is the info that could hurt you even more in the long run. If you have your license revoked for not paying the fine your insurance rates will increase dramatically. Most insurance companies look at a revocation of license as a major offence, pretty much the same as they look at a DUI or hit and run. If you are with a prefered carrier then they would have the right to drop your insurance when it renews. Please call the court house and make sure that your license is still good, if its not and you get pulled over they will give you a ticket for driving after revocation which is another major violation and the fine for that will be soooo much more than the speeding ticket.

They're going to catch you eventually, even if it takes until you go in to renew your license or registration. If you wait until they get to you, you're going to go to jail, at least for a few hours, AND you're going to pay the fine for the ticket, AND probably for "failure to appear", AND maybe even Contempt of Court.
Now, you said you haven't got the money. Guess what? You're not the first one to get a ticket they can't pay, the courts know how to deal with that, but what they will NOT deal with is being ignored.
Here's how you handle it: Go to the nearest Law School, and ask about getting some free legal help from a Third Year student. Odds are they have a free clinic for just this kind of situation. They will call the court, give them the attention and respect they want, and make a deal you can live with to pay over time.

You should get this fine paid off ASAP. If you get pulled over, you could be arrested and spend time in jail, going to court and paying other fees on top of the original $156.
Thegubmint is correct, you will have difficulty with renewing your license and registering your car. You would need to clear this up before you can move forward in your life.
I would encourage you to reevaluate your budget and finances. Cut back on things you don't really need for a couple of months and cancel any thing like Cable, Internet, Cell phone (or Home phone) and other bills that you can live without for a few months.

Look at the ticket there should be an address or a Phone No. for the Police Station that you can contact, if not contact the Clerk of Courts in that County City State and get what information you need. If you do not pay the ticket you can be subject to having a warrant posted for you in ALL STATES under the new lisencing laws as of 1999 under the CDL law 1 licence and that no# is now recorde in every state so any state can act on the warrant no matter what state it was issued in and most state will arrest you as will as take your lisence from you. You need to take care of the ticket before it's to late.

They revoke your license and issue a bench warrant. You won't be able to renew your license or registration without clearing it up, and if you happen to get stopped for any reason, you could very well end up in jail.
It could also show up in an pre-employment investigation if you try to get a new job, possibly costing you a good opportunity. I can pretty much tell you that the price of the ticket has already gone up. Now you will get to pay that penalty, plus, quite likely, a reinstatement fee to get your license back.

within time, the ticket WILL turn into a warrant, and depending on the how high ur case is on the list, they will go out and search for you, or if happen to get pulled over again, it will show up when they run a check on ur driver's license...but let me tell you, my mom was in your situation, and she went like a whole year without paying her tickets...they were like a thousand bucks worth!!! lol the city kept sending her notices in the mail, but nothing...noone ever came to look for her...it wasn't until one night when i got into a hot situation with some of my friends that my mom showed up, the cops were there, she was being all crazy, they ran her information and it popped up...they took her in and she just stayed the weekend...but that was here in texas, so i dunno what the policy is where you live...hope i was of help!!

If you don't pay your speeding tickets a warrant will be issued for your arrest and if you are pulled over you will be arrested and your car impounded. The fines and other penalties can increase the longer you put off getting them taken care of.
