A few reasons :)
First of all often you think you are hungry when you are actually thirsty. If you have a drink of water and then wait for 10 minutes you may find the "hunger" has gone!
Also, water has no calories (duh lol) so you can fill your tummy with water without putting on weight. This can help give you a full feeling and help you to resist snacking.
Water can also help with dieting in general as it cleans out your whole system and can get rid of toxins in your system which can actually cause cravings. The sooner these toxins are washed out of your system, the less cravings you will have.
Hope this helps x

No, the extra water flushes out water and sodium among other things such as toxins. Your body retains extra water when it isn't readily available. So by not drinking enough you are actually gaining water weight because your body is storing it. After 3-4 days of drinking enough your body will start to flush out the excess supply and you will see a weight drop of usually a couple pounds.

Water has a couple of benefits tied to weight loss. First and foremost, we are mostly made up of water, so you need to replenish. Water is required for most of your basic cellular activities as well so they require the fuel. You lose it during the day not only sweating but also through respiration and other cellular activities.
Probably the most important is that it helps to remove waste built up during fat burning. So drink drink drink more water! Your body will thank you!

Drinking water flushes out all the 'bad' things that's inside of you. The more you drink per day, the more toxins and unwanted things inside your body will get removed. I also suggest if you don't like the plain taste of water, try putting a squeeze of lemon juice in there...

well 70% of our body mass is water
and we continously loose water - by urine , perspiration, etc etc
so we need to keep on replacing this water
when you dont drink water, your body tries to retain water - which is not good for you
if you drink water, then you are 'helping' your body to get rid of all the toxins that you have gathered from food + air
i do not believe that water directly helps in weight loss but ideally weight loss can be achieved by exercise and healthy food - to digest healthy food and get its benefits you need water, when you exercise you loose water - so you need to replace it
good luck
