When a child is sexually abused, more often than not they think it's their fault? It can seem like there is no other answer, even though it's so obvious that they were an innocent victim of a horrible person.
Now if those victims can think something that is so obviously wrong, don't you think it might be time to question what you are sure of?

"Are you comparing people with knowledge to rape victims?"
In a way, yes. I'm saying that certain things in life can lead us to believe something despite the fact it's so obviously not the truth.
And "people with knowledge" can also mean "people with false knowledge"

Man you guys are missing the boat large on this one. I don't have time to explain it more, but i'll say this, adults that are raped feel it's their fault to sometimes, but this has more to do with the power of self-desecption.

Are you really comparing someones emotional damage, especially a child's, to an adults knowledge? I know some people think they know it all, and no one really does, but some people do know the correct answers to questions that they have studied and learned about or through life experiences.

Now I'll admit that Im not "the sharpest knife in the drawer" But !!
There are things that Im abosolutely sure of and know to be the
truth: Gods Kingdom is the only hope for mankind; that it is a real
government; that it will soon destroy the present wicked system of
things, including all human governments, and that it will produce a
new system in which righteousness will prevail. And Im also sure
that we are now living, since 1914,in the last days of this wicked
system of things; that some who saw the events of 1914 will
also see the complete destruction of the preasent wicked world;
that lovers of righteousness will survive into a cleansed earth.
I hope to be one of those survivors,as do 6 and 1/2 million others,
at presant, but still growing number of one that follow Jesus
Christs commandments. There is still time for more honest hearted ones to find the truth of Jehovahs purposes.Ps.37:11..

Kids generally think it's their fault because Mommy told them so: "Don't ever let anyone touch you 'down there'!", not remotely considering what it's like to be a 3 foot tall, 45 pound, naive moppet, contending with a full-grown, world-wise adult. If you were to pre-program someone for guilt, you couldn't find a better scenario. That ranks up there with teaching them the suicide phrase: "I'm going to tell my Daddy on you!!"
Adults being raped feeling guilty? Maybe it's a carry-over from 3rd world cultures where relatives are expected to kill any unmarried young woman who has lost her virginity even if she was raped (even Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus" killed his own daughter after she was raped). Not sure that adult rape victims feel guilt as much as shame and embarassment. Then there's the sexual arousal that can result even when it's against your will. That's what enables seduction, turning another's body and sexual response against themselves.
Of course, you weren't addressing me, since I'm not sure of anything, except that I can be a pompous windbag.

Children don't have the brain capacity to understand everything like adults do. So when an authority figure (adult) comes and manipulates that child and forces them to do something dirty, the child then feels apart of that. That child feels, even though they were manipulated and forced, that it is THEIR fault, because the pervert made them believe so. So if you're implying, because all victims feel at fault, they're right, then you need serious help!

No, because a child is mentally, physically and emotionally immature. They are not capable of seeing things from an adult perspective.
It's not the same thing.
But yes, I think you should question things you are sure of...try to see things from other people's perspective. But when you've done that and your research and reevaluating brings you back to the same conclusion I'd say it's okay to be sure.

You make a good point, a little unusual, but still good.
Noone ever is 100% right about anything. Be it science, wich is ever changing, or Religion, that has sometimes confusing foundations, relationships, parenting, etc......
You believe what suits you the best, and sometimes your wrong, and sometimes your not, NOTHING is 100%.

Yeah. I usually don't claim to be right about anything. I was having a great discussion with an old friend of mine about religion yesterday. I usually don't talk about it, but she brought it up. I never once told her I was wrong or I had an answer. Anybody who claims to have the answer to a question of theology or philosophy is probably wrong.

Are you honestly comparing religious training with sexual abuse?
So every mother that teaches her child to pray might as well be sexually assaulting him or her? Every time dad gives thanks for a fine meal he is subjecting his child to something akin to sexual abuse.
That's a new one.
