They are trying to raise awareness for environmental issues by thrashing an F1 car around that struggles to meet 4 miles per gallon, while building millions of engines every year. So they've put a picture of the Earth on their car.. What the hell is that going to proove?

The design displays no sponsors logos. It just shouts out to me that they haven't secured a major sponsor, and they are trying to divert attention from that by confusing the gullibles.

It's a marketing ploy, rather like this government they have seized on the Green issue and are using it to their advantage, after all it's got people talking about it and got them an interview on C4 news the other evening,no other team manged that so it's working ,after all if they had just plastered their car with the usual sponsor logos we wouldn't be commenting on it now :0)

I've not seen this, but as a generalization, the point of the new livery is probably the same as the point of the old livery, and the livery of pretty much all race teams: marketing!

And it would be quite a feat for an F1 car to make 4MPG! However, small gains in fuel efficency in racing often times have much larger implications for fuel efficency in passenger cars, so aside from marketing, there may even be some sense in the new scheme.

Ok I see this Honda bashing and have to say. I support Jenson Button and Barrichello, not necesarily Honda though. So I have to stand up for them.

Why would Honda have no major sponsorship deals for this season, it's Honda they're a MAJOR car dealer, there are probably MAJOR sponsors lining up bids to be on any part of there cars.

As for the picture of Earth and it's commited participants, at least they are trying to raise awareness of Environmental problems, the other cars still promote YOUNG DRINIKING (as all age kids watch and see their alcohol advertising, and think whats it like) and DEATH STICKS (through tobacco sponsorship).Although, yes they do probably commit to a big chunk of the car waste.

I suppose you'll be ripping on Barca FC next, and the fact they're sponsored by OXFAM.

to win over some of those sitting on the fence green peace fans? Still the car design looks quite 'unique'.

Officially - trying to raise awareness of environmental issues:

Reality:
To attract sponsorship
To stand out
To be seen as ethical
