i've been excercising for about 7 weeks now. I use to walk for 45min everyday at 3.3miles perhour, now I've upped my routine. I walk 3.7 mph and run 5.0 mph. But I alternate them. Every other min. I run, then everyother min. I walk. What is more beneficial, a steady routine, or alternating walking/running?

You are doing a version of interval training, which the latest research suggests is the most beneficial, in terms of overall fitness, heart health, and muscular strength. You can find lots of research on interval training online, but if you need something specific, let me know.

Research shows that alternating is better for cardiovascular health and for fat loss. See the links within the following link.
