Nothing. The terms pistol and handgun are interchangeable. There is no difference whatsoever.

'Pistol' is actually a self-loading handgun which the Glock is. After you start shooting it, it will load a round into the chamber automatically. 'Semi-automatic' means that it will shoot each time you pull the trigger. 'Automatic' means it will shoot as long as you hold the trigger back. A 'handgun' is a firearm that can be carried and fired in one hand without the aid of a shoulder stock. A handgun can be a pistol, a revolver, a derringer, etc.
And .9mm is the caliber. The four different Glocks currently chambered for the .9mm round are:
1. The Model 17.
2. The Model 18 (not available to the general public State-side).
3. The Model 19 (compact version of the 17).
4. The Model 26 (subcompact version).
Hope that helped.

They are the same. There are 4 types of handguns; semi-automatic pistols, revolvers in 5, 6, 7, 8, & 9 shot cylinders, single shot handguns, and tiny Derringers of 1 to 6 shots. Pistol and revolver became separated when the first semi-auto pistols were invented. Before that, any gun could be called a pistol.

""""Revolvers ARE NOT pistols""""
Again with this poser rambo-wannabe ****???
A "pistol" is ANY weapon designed to be fired/used with one hand. Nothing more. There is no qualifying factor of "chamber" or other ridiculous crap.
Anyone that says there is is full of crap and has no doubt gotten their entire knowledge of the field of firearms from comicbooks and SOF magazine.
A crossbow PISTOL is a pistol, a water PISTOL is a pistol, a revolver is a PISTOL, a derringer is a PISTOL, the original spring-loaded assassin's pistol is a PISTOL yadda yadda yadda.
A revolver is a "revolving pistol". Just another form of pistol. A "derringer" is a brandname for a "pocket pistol", a Glock is an "auto-loading pistol".
All are "handguns". All are "pistols".
Was going to let this one go but I had to respond to Ideaman....
""""There are 4 types of handguns""""
So where do crossbow pistols fit into that? Full auto pistols? Pneumatic pistols (airpistols)? Spring-loaded pistols? Gyrojet pistols? Pepperbox pistols? Two-shot side by side flint/percussion pistols? Rubber-powered spear pistols? Volley pistols? Brassnuckle pistols? Knife/sword (sometimes known as boarding pistols) pistols? "Protector"-type palm pistols? Pen guns? Pipe pistols?
As to the original question....a Glock is a brandname semi-auto or "self-loading" pistol. Glocks are also handguns. The two words are interchangeable in this case.

None, Glock only make semiautomatic pistols for the general public, and a selective fire 9mm pistol [the Model 18] for law enforcement and military organizations.

Webster's dictionary says a pistol is a handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel while a handgun is a pistol or revolver designed to be fired with one hand. Bonus! a revolver is "a handgun with a cylinder of several chambers brought successively into line with the barrel and discharged with the same hammer"
Hope this helps.

i shot an intruder with a glock 9mm pistol.
the police took my 9mm hand gun.
i didn't shoot the intruder with the 9mm hand gun it was stolen by the police. i went down to the police station after the intruder died, to turn in the 9mm pistol. they told me since i had a license i could keep it.

Nothing. They are the same thing. Pistols are handguns, handguns are pistols. But be sure to do your research as to which Glock to buy because they do make different sizes, such as the compact and subcompact.

Some folks grammer that's all, but as a note, "Pistols" are semi-auto handguns and "Revolvers" are just a handgun. There are a few nick-names though, wheel-guns, six-gun.

The term "pistol" is a term that refers to a certain class of "handguns", which is a broader term that also includes "revolvers".
Like "pickup" is a class of "vehicle", which also includes other cars.
Revolvers ARE NOT pistols, but both are handguns.
Semi-auto, auto and single shots are pistols.....those with cylinders are revolvers.
In this case, there is no difference. Pistol is more accurate however.
