it really is possible. I've seen instant tea to make iced tea and i've seen green tea concentrate in powder and liquidy forms. I don't think they're quite as popular as brewing your own tea, because it doesn't taste as good and isn't as healthy for you. Instant coffee isn't that popular either since Starbucks came to fruitiion...

Instant Coffee is a made from brewed coffee beans to produce a dehydrated and easily soluble powder. The complex process involves extraction of varios soluble component from ground roasted beans. To put it in a simple way, caffeine and other materials are extracted to produce a powder which is easily dissolved in water.
On the other hand, there is no simple and cost effective mechanism to extract caffeine, catechins and theanine to produce similar kind of soluble mixture or instant tea. As a result, instant tea does not exist.
But, we have something which can be easily compared to instant tea. It is commonly known as 'Tea Dust' or 'Fannings' (Tea bag concept is based on this dust). Tea dust is basically the waste product left after producing higher quality leaf tea. And, it dissolves (in hot water) and produces tea almost instantly.

Its very simple. Coffee comes from beans, that are crushed and dissolve in water almost immediately. However some brands of coffee, rather types of coffee have to be brewed too. However tea comes from leaves that are not water soluble but have to soak well to give a good flavour, also the leaves have to be strained, increasing the time taken to make tea. Hence coffee can be made instantly and not tea. I guess the best way to cut down on tea making time is to use tea bags.

Lipton makes cold brewing ice tea that is instant. I have a box right now and it tastes the same if not better than the brands that you have to make on the stovetop and then let cool before you can drink. I hope this is on the track of the question you were asking.

I don't think there's ever been a need for instant tea sense the long version only takes a minuet anyway. if you don't have time to let a tea bag sit for 60 seconds then you really need to schedual your time better.

Because tea needs to brew ( boil in water) before it can give out it's full flavour...thats not the case with coffee.

Who said No? In fact it is available under the brand "Instea" and "Nestea". In any case, there is nothing to beat conventionally prepared one - both tea or coffee. They are "Heady", and "Yummy" only when it percolates through our grandma's good old filter, which no multinationals can match with the best of technologies.
