hi i have 2000 dodge caravan and for some reason i cant get the brake shoes to compress even with self adjustors so i can put the drums back on

Your handbrake cables are sticking or out of adjustment. Pull the exposed cable section from under the van and make sure the cable moves in and out of the sheath leading to the backing plate of the wheel. If it can't move, you may need to replace them. If they do move somewhat freely, look down the cable and you will see the adjuster, Back off the adjuster nut until it allows the brake lever to move forward enough to slide the drum on, Readjust after ward,
