"An angel appeared to me and pierced me with his fiery sword!"

Some euphemism, huh?

Propaganda spread by anti-Christians.

Imagine a child being born of a virgin today. Imagine a man rising from the dead three days after being buried.

Imagine how people would behave today and you can understand how people would have behaved two thousand years ago.

That is, unless the man had appeared to hundreds of people showing them the marks in his hands and side where he had been killed.

The most common propaganda is the story of Mary having been raped by a Roman soldier. Joseph, being an honorable man, would not hold this against the young woman and so continued the betrothal.

Yeah, two thousand years later propaganda still dies hard.

As "immaculate conception" refers to the manner in which Mary was born, and not to the method by which she became pregnant nor to the birth of Christ, the answer is no.

The method by which Jesus was born is called "the virgin birth". They are two totally different things.

Certainly more plausible

Christians aren't the only religion based on that type of birth, there were many before Christianity was even around

That is more reasonable than a virgin giving birth. There was a rumor that she was raped by a Roman named Pantera too. The simple solution is often the correct one.
