It depends. In a time of war (now) you can be put to death if you are a deserter. But that is only 30 days. I am active Navy, and I have seen people get 45 days in the brig, 1/2 months pay times 2. ( a full months pay) and that's it. I have also seen people get a dishonorable discharge. It depends if your command has someone who will back you (E-7 and above) and the veiw of the CO and perhaps special conditions on why you left (family member sick) or something. You can be in for some serious trouble, but not always. You need to return to your command before it gets any worse.

Well, my dad went AWOL for the weekend to play in a championship soccer game. The captain tended to go home for the weekends but he didn't this time and didn't let my dad know. lol They were waiting for my dad when he came back on Monday morning. He had KP duty for a while, but this was either during Korea or immediately following WWII. It could be different now or it may depend on who catches you.

first it is different for each unit but let me give you an example of what i see on a day to day basis.

reduction to private(E-1), forfeiture of $300-$650 per month for 1 or 2 months, restriction for 14-45 days, extra duty for 14-45 days.

and if you go AWOL again of go over your 30 days it becomes desertion and that is prison or even death but to my knowledge nobody has died because of that in this war.

If you are UA the consequesnces aren't going to get any lighter than going back now. The punishment depends greatly on the command, a lot of latitude is given to the local command in these situations.

look son Either repent and turn yourself in,or be wanted and dishonorable for the rest of your life!

Kids screw up ,they know that trust me . It s usually the young boys and its usually because of a girl. If it hasn't been too long and you are very young they probably will yell sent you to the the brigg and a psych evaluation. They might let you back to duty if it hasn't been too long. It probably won't be as bad as you think.
but move it son!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
