Well you need to ask your self how much time can I contribute to the training of the dog and walking of the dog grooming and so on. How much money you can spend also. Dogs are very expensive. First off the bat you have the price of the dog. The kennel (a necessity) dog toys dog food dog treats bowls leash and collar which will run you about 150-180 Then the vet visits for there first shots and second and rabies probably around 300 the unexpected accidents etc. The website below will help you determine better.

Look in the news paper, or at your local pet shops post boards. Usually you can find FREE dogs or pups that way. Find you an older puppy or dog (over a year or so) so that you don't have to worry about house training, or any other problem associated with young pups. Plus, you'd be doing yourself, the original owners, and the dog a HUGE favor!!!
Check the shelters too. Again, it's an amazing favor to the dogs to get them out of that place! I know it was the first place I went when I was looking for a dog, but ended up getting my puppy for free on a post board at the pet supply shop.
Also, I don't want to be a hater, but not a pure breed. Mixes are a jumbled mess, and have the best personalities, and you don't have the in-breeding issues and diseases that pures can have. That's when you end up with the most unique-looking and acting dogs!
NOTE: Don't get one from a pet shop, unless you KNOW where they come from! Those tend to be from "puppy mills" and usually come with illness and abuse. Granted, you'd be giving them a home they deserve, but I'd say the issues that come with them, may not be worth the price tag.
;o)

As the previous respondent pointed out, a GREAT deal depends on your living situation !! Space, time available to exercise and play with the dog, etc... Obviously you don't want a Great Dane in a one-bedroom apartment !! And a poodle on a ranch is almost as foolish.
I WOULD recommend that when you select a breed... go to your local shelter and get your dog THERE !! My brother got all three of his puppies there (mixed breed working dogs), and those lil slobber monsters are just great !!
Turi and Cocoa are mostly Pitt Bull terriers... and VERY sweet girls. Chase is a mixed Rhodesian Ridgeback... silly, but a great lil buddy.

A Goldendoodle! they are the sweetest, smartest little balls of fluff you could ever imagine! I have a puppy one and I love her to pieces! they are hypo-allergenic and non shedding as well. I really wish I could put a picture, but in general, they look like lighter-colored, fluffy golden retrievers. They are prt of the new "Designer dog" fad. They come in black, golden, or white. They are a mix of the Standard poodle (the big ones with the funny haircuts) + a golden retriever. I originally wanted a golden, but with my allergies, I couldn't handle it. I was reluctant to get one that was half poodle, but as soon as as I saw the pictures on the site I purchased mine from, I totally fell in love! Now, every time I got to Petsmart, everyoe stops and cooes at her and wants to pet her. When I tell people her breed, most people think I'm saying 'Snickerdoodle' =;P Go to Google and put 'goldendoodle puppy' it under images. Then you'll know exactly what I'm rambling over.

that all depends on your lifestyle. you need to provide some information for anyone to recommend a breed. what kind of home do you have? what is your work schedule? do you want a big dog or little? how much time do you have to exercise and train the puppy? will it be a family dog? have you ever raised a puppy before?

I would go to petfinder.com
You can get a puppy from a shelter
If you wan to buy one, check breederinfrocenter.com
If you buy one, do not get one, unless you are able to see it
You want to make sure the puppy is from a good breeder
You need to know toy, small, medium, large dog
What type, lap sitter, working dog, a dog to play with
What Kind of life do you live

cock-a-poo (Cocker Spaniel and Poodle) and Labradoodle (Lab and Poodle) are good for allergies and don't shed much. They are great with kids and Cocka-Poo's are SMART and train easy! I would adopt from your local animal shelter, them dogs have no homes and don't have much time before they have to be put to sleep. Or browse Petfinder.com!
