Wines I've been liking lately for daily drinking:

Cycles Gladiator Syrah (under $10)
Archery Summit Premier Cuvee Pinot Noir (under $40)
Concha Y Toro Casillero del Diablo Cabernet (under $10)
Noval Porto 1999 (under $25)
Yangarra Cadenzia ($25)
Six Prong Red (under $10)
Montes Alpha Syrah (under $20)

Try a california Zinfandel (NOT a white Zin...those ought to be outlawed!) or a French Beaujolais (not Nouveau). They are both pleasant for sipping, do not need to be paired with food and neither are big fuit bomb wines.

Other suggestions: Eastern European imports like Georgian, Greek, Romanian or Bulgarian reds. Most of these are not big bombs, either.
