I am on Wellbutrin and Lexapro (600mg & 20mg) respectively. All the warning labels and medical stuff on the internet say that if you accidentially miss a dose to take the next one and do not douple-up. They also are explicit in saying that if you start to feel better, to NOT STOP taking the drugs. What happens if I do?

Yes, I am seeing a therapist and a Psychologist...I was just curious if the depression is much more severe becasue your brain is in this "hungry for dopmine and saratonin" mode?

You will start feeling the same and/or worse. You can also go though withdrawal and that's a bad feeling. Your on medication to keep your chemical imbalance, balanced. So make sure you take your medications properly so you can live your life feeling better rather than worse.

Well , I guess I could tell you what happened to me when I just stopped taking my medicine. I was taking it ohhh, for about 1 and a half years.I was feeling great.I ran out of my meds and I decided I was better. I did not need any more drugs.I think it was the third day, I crashed.I went down fast. And I mean fast!On the third day I was looking for a way to commit suicide. The drs put me on the looney bin.Man, I dont ever want to feel that way again.I came real close to leaving this world. So if you are thinking about stopping your meds please talk to your dr. first.Dont do any thing without his say so. You take care now.

I was on a low dose of anti-deps for post natal depression and decided I'd had enough after about 6 months as I thought I was fine. After about a week I was in a terrible state very emotional hormones everywhere one minute screaming and shouting next in tears - was like worst ever pmt. You need to manage yourself off them with the help of your doc. you will reduce the dose over a certain period until you are "weaned" off them. Good luck.

Don't just stop! You could go into DTs. I lost my script and started De-toxing before I could get more. It is a terrible thing to go through. You need to work with a doc if you really want off the meds. However, docs do not prescribe those drugs willy-nilly. If you have a prescription, you must really need them.

I stopped taking my medicine and got what I call shocks in my brain. If you miss one take it right away I don't think doubling up would be suggested. My friend ended up in the hospital for withdrawal because of missing her prescriptions. She had massive dizzy spells and double vision. When I decided to stop taking my medicine I did it by myself and took small bites and finally got off of it.

The depression can actully become a whole lot worse. It's like a big crash. Tried it it was not pretty. Remember it's the med's that are helping you to feel good.

If you do want to get off of them you need to ween yourself off and find a therapist to talk to. Quitting cold turkey can throw you into severe depression.

You'll go right back the way you were before if not worse...

That's what therapy is for... The drugs should never be used long term by themselves. Are you getting therapy?

Tell your doctor to help you get off the drugs and if he refuses...go to another doctor somewhere else where he does not know your doctor and would give you some hope in getting off the drugs or redirect you to some natural alternatives

You simply start being depressed, well not right away, the meds take time to wear off. (don't stop taking your meds)
