5 months isn't that long. If you love him, wait for him. Your boyfriend is a hero, no doubt about it, focus on things that you usually do- spend time with friends, family etc. Work hard in school or work and the time will fly by quickly.

Wait for him, if you love him and then wait. Please do not cheat on him because he is doing something for himself.
While he's gone, find a hobby, join a sports team, go swimming, join a club, do something that will keep you busy. Write him letters and tell him that you love him, and so on and so forth.
