If you're experiencing any swelling or soreness or lumps, you should always get it checked out. And, remember to do your monthly self breast-check exams. Breast cancer can strike any age group. It may be that you have cystic breast , this , too , can cause swelling and tenderness. The only way to know is to be seen by your MD.

When I was 20 I had a lump in my breast that was very sore. I went to the doctor and the doctor diagnosed it in about 5 seconds. It was a condition called mastitis, which is just an inflammation or infection of the milk ducts. It usually happens to pregnant or nursing women, but can happen to any woman (I was neither pregnant or nursing). The doctor gave me an antibiotic and told me to take Aleve (naproxen sodium) for pain. It was gone in 2 days.
To ease your mind some more, most breast cancers are not painful. But to be safe, go see your doctor :) Good Luck!

swelling and discomfort in one breast or the other is usually just a symptom of a hormonal imbalance that the body resolves on it's own with a little patience. Learn to do breast self examination, as breast cancer is not painful and often silent.

Do you have a history of breast cancer in your family? Just to be on the safe side, go get it checked. Unfortunately, breast cancer can occur at any age. I wish you the best of luck and you are in my prayers.

Go to the doc......chances are it is just a cyst, you are so young if it were cancer that would be like the same odds as winning the lottery...I know it does happen but soooo non common...it will ease your mind to go...good luck...
Also not to be ruled out....a too tight underwire bra has done that to me before...my left is bigger so it was only the left that was sore.....better safe than sorry...good luck.

That happened to my friend, and when she went to the drs it turned out she was pregnant and one the milk ducts in her breast was clogged so all she had to do was put ice on it and it swelled down. so you should go get checked out asap.
