Can Couture clinch and use his dirty boxing to beat Sylvia or is he just too big?

Can you see Couture winning? How?

Cool some Couture fans out there!

Much respect to both fighters. I am hoping for Couture to win, it will juggle up the HW division. I think Randy has the skills for this fight. He's great in the clinch and he may be able to get underhooks on Tim to bring him down. If this fight goes down, look for Couture to mount and FINISH. If it stays up, maybe Couture can dirty box his way through it, gas Sylvia and win.

Sylvia pretty much just has to keep Randy at range (he's not going to make that easy) with his striking and sprawl those shots.

I hate hearing negative things about Tim Sylvia, he's got skills like him or not.

Yes he can. And I hope to god he does!

Theres no way he can win in a stand up fight, thats for sure. Theres also no way he will be shooting for a takedown from the outside, that would be stupid, Jeff Monson tried that, and Sylvia just sprawled, and monson just ran out of ideas.

He will try to get in close, in a clinch, and somehow get Tim on the floor that way, he will try to sweep, or trip sylvia up when theyre in close.

I hope to see Randy win the Heavyweight belt again. But then after im sure he will retire again for good. It would be stupid of him to fight Micro Crop Cop and get knocked out wouldnt it.

I think he has watched Tim in his last couple of fights and been dissapointed the way that sylvia has fought, and the desire tim has shown for the Heavyweight belt. Randy wants to get the belt from Tim.

Tim Sylvia is not a good Champion for the UFC. Randy was one of the best.

We shall soon see!!!

No sorry he can't. I know I will probably receive thumbs down like last time I answered a similar question. However Sylvia is too good of a striker and too strong and Couture is too old.

Remember the problems Couture had with Barnett. There will be some of the same kind of problems. Couture was winning the Barnett fight but just gassed out because of Barnett's size eventually making an impact. It will be the same here.
Couture will have trouble in trying to fight Sylvia standing up since Sylvia hits tremendously hard, has a good reach and is comfortable in the stand up. Couture will have trouble trying to take Sylvia down because he has to be wary of the punches plus Sylvia is a big very strong man which makes it harder to land an effective takedown. Once down Sylvia can use his size to make it hard for Couture.

I just don't see anyway a less than prime Couture can win.

Of course The Natural Randy Couture can win. He is a legend for a reason and he still has it.

Watch out for those hard punches, get into the clinch take him down - keep him down and ground and pound.

We could have a new Champion - Randy Couture.

But all that does not matter, because Mirko Cro Cop will beat anyone of them.

IF he gets the clinch, which I think he can. . .Sylvia is toast. Once Couture is in there, it's hard to get out. But it should be a good fight and a great test for the "Natural".

I can see Randy winning this one.

Tim is big. Tim is strong. Tim is one nasty striker. But compared to strikers like LIddell (who Randy lost to), Tim is slow.

Randy can't go toe-to-toe with TIm, and I would hope he doesn't plan to. His smartest move will be to get in close and eliminate the striking advantage Tim has. Randy is a master when it comes to grappling on the mat. It's there that Randy will dominate.

Go Randy!
