Then he's an arrogant jerk. No use showing him the Bible, because he's probably cherry-picking from it himself.

Here sweetie. Read 2 Timothy 3:1- 9... Emphasize verses 1,2,5,& 9.
3:1 But understand this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 3:2 For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3:3 unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good, 3:4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, loving pleasure rather than loving God. 3:5 They will maintain the outward appearance of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these. 3:6 For some of these insinuate themselves into households and captivate weak women who are overwhelmed with sins and led along by various passions. 3:7 Such women are always seeking instruction, yet never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. 3:8 And just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these people – who have warped minds and are disqualified in the faith – also oppose the truth. 3:9 But they will not go much further, for their foolishness will be obvious to everyone, just like it was with Jannes and Jambres.

Selfishness.... here are a few I found!
Psalm 119:36- Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain.
Proverbs 18:1- An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment.
Philippians 2:3- Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.
James 3:14- But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.
James 3:16- For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
I hope these help!!!

If you don't MEAN to judge, then DON'T judge. Don't get me wrong........What I'm telling you is; Let the Bible do the Judging. For you to point out what the Word of God says concerning hipocracy, greed, pride, being puffed up, etc. is not YOUR judgment; its God's judgment. You're just "delivering" the message so to speak.
In other words....don't judge people by your OWN judgment....
Peace sister.
Someone just said,
"If he's a minister he knows the Scriptures ...................."
WOW! No wonder the religious world is in SUCH trouble! To believe that ANYBODY that is a "minister", KNOWS the scriptures is, forgive me, PLAIN STUPID.

Dannielle,
You can't do anything! If He is a leader in the church...God put him there for what ever reason... But God will take care of him and chastise him when he needs it. You quoted that He calls himself a preacher/?? Well God will have final say on that. And he will be judged accordingly by his deeds.

I would encourage you not to use scriptures as if they were hand grenades. Instead why not simply live your life as a humble and sincere child of God as an example to your uncle. The Holy Spirit will convict your uncle if his life is not according to God's will.

Here's some great scripture from the bible, the book of blah. Here, try Proverbs, some really neat stuff here.
The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.--Pr.30:17
He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.--Pr.13:24
Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying.--Pr.19:18
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh.--Pr.1:26
Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.--Pr:22:15
Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats.--Pr.23:6
Let her breasts satisfy thee at all times.--Pr.5:19
The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.--Pr.20:30
YEAH. What a neat cult book. Inspired by a god? Puh-leez.

There are some good scriptures mentioned here if he becomes open to hearing them but it sounds like the best thing you can do for your uncle right now is to pray for him.

The most effective thing to do is to just pray for him to come to an understanding of what God really wants for him. The New Testament is full of things that are specifically written to give us direction but one has to be willing to learn from them. Pray that the eyes of his heart will be opened.

Can't do it.
God will have to if He wants.
Scriptures are for real believers.
Non believers don't believe the Bible.
The Bible is the Word of God. If they really don't believe in God, how can they believe the Bible. God is His Word.

If he's a minister he knows the Scriptures so my advice to you is to cover him in prayer that the Lord will touch his heart.
