Being brutally beaten till you were unrecognizeable, losing half your blood, then have your heart speared so that the pericardium drained, then staying in a stone cave for three days without food or water is what you call "technically dead" I feel sorry for you. Christ predicted His death, and burial and resurrection to prove He was God and that what He told us about God was true. He was seen by over 500 people who KNEW He was dead after His resurrection. The 11 apostles died horrible deaths in the first century because they would not say that Christ was dead. People might do that if they were nuts, but not if they KNEW it to be a lie. For 2,000 years, no one has been able to produce the body. Could you explain why you think it was just "technically dead"?

In three ways. First, it was a sacrifice because he suffered and died for us rather than dying for something for himself. Second, during his "couple days", he went to hell and suffered again on our behalf. I would call that a sacrifice even if it was only for a couple of days. Third, he gave up his place in heaven for 33 of our years and suffered the pains of mankind. Can you imagine what a come down that must have been? Would you be willing to do it? I've thought about that a lot and even though I consider myself a true Christian, I would not be willing to go through what Jesus went through for the sake of a bunch of people who hated me. I am not capable of that kind of love.

Such a narrow perspective focused on the brief mortal life, ignoring everything stretching out infinitely beyond it... Astounding.
Well, let's say that you don't have to do something for me, but you agree to do it just cuz you're a nice person. The thing I'd like you to do for me is to suffer infinite pain for hours, then I'll have some of my buddies torture you almost to death for awhile, then I'll have some of my other buddies nail you up to a board where you can suffer that infinite pain again, in addition to the somewhat lesser, though still uncomfortable pain of slowly dying from shock, blood loss, and asphyxiation while you hang on the cross.
I agree...not much of a sacrifice at all...is it....

How was it a sacrifice!?! HE had to go through excruciating pain, bieng flogged, pierced, spit on, hit, kicked, and NAILED on a cross!!! Plus how do you think it feels to have all the sin of the world on your shoulders? It must feel pretty darn bad!! Then he did die and in 3 days he rose from he dead so YOU could have a personal relationship with him and go to heaven!I would call that a pretty big sacrifice!!!

there is NO technicality in the death of Christ. He died for our sins, He rose again on the third day to show Himself to His followers. The reason it's more significant for His persecution than others is that He was faultless, blameless, perfectly innocent. We are not in any way perfect. God gave us His son, so that we may be found blameless at the judgement if we recieved Christ and accepted His sacrifice for us. No one else that ever walked the earth has been so perfect as Christ, so their life would be no good to save us.

What God sacrificed was his Holy Son but,,,,also sacrificed does not always mean death,,,, Jesus did Die and after being put in a tomb rose three days later,,,, ,,,, God sacrifised Jesus as a man on earth teaching His Laws so that he may spread Gods Holy word and plant seed ,,,, what I mean is everyperson Jesus came accross was like planting a seed to grow, in people through out the ages ,,, and also for remberence He was put and Died on the cross , for the sins of all of us ,,, The seeds that were planted in people are what we know today ,,,all for the GLORY OF GOD!!! like a vine that keeps spreading so that we may know and follow GOD with much teaching given to us continuouslly
also think,,,, now it also gave us the New Testement all which is around Jesus life and time,

Dear Friend,
Jesus did die, for the follwing reason.
Romans 5:12
Death Through Adam, Life Through Christ
12Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned—
Under Gods law,
Leviticus 24:17 " 'If anyone takes the life of a human being, he must be put to death. 18 Anyone who takes the life of someone's animal must make restitution—life for life. 19 If anyone injures his neighbor, whatever he has done must be done to him: 20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. As he has injured the other, so he is to be injured. 21 Whoever kills an animal must make restitution, but whoever kills a man must be put to death. 22 You are to have the same law for the alien and the native-born. I am the LORD your God.
The sacrifice of one perfect life (adam) required the sacrifice of another Jesus.
That is why Jesus died, as a sacrifice to atone for all Sin past present and future:
John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
but the bible promises:
Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
The bible promises that all who turn from Sin and accept Jesus as saviour have the promise of everlasting life.
I hope this answers your question.
God Bless

HE DID DIE- however if He stayed dead what victory would we have? If He was not alive, how could we be alive with Christ in God? The sacrifice was the PAIN he suffered for us, His resurrection was to give us victory over death.

He sacrificed His flesh for us....so that the Spirit could be released from the body. This same resurrection will occur for us someday.
And He lived a perfect, sinless life as well in order for this sacrifice to work in the first place.

First of all you must understand the trinity being the Father( God) Son (Jesus) and Holy Ghost and their roles- I have heard this described as H2O- which is water in three forms- liquid, ice and steam- but they all have the same composition- to continue God sent his only son- part of himself to die in human form- the same as each of us will experience- he arose in spirit form with a resurrected body- we also will have a spirit form after this death and each of us choose where the spirit resides for eternity- the next question is why did his once physical body become resurrected? and the answer is that all that believe in him will in one day also have a resurrected body in his image-
