Train, train, train !! Daily routines differ from command to command and specialty to specialty....
I did 15 years in the Navy, and my first 6 years were endless training !!
A year and a half just to qualify as a crewman in the SH-60B Seahawk... 2 months to qualify as a sea-going crew... 4 months to qualify with the SHIP as a complete system and battle group... then the delights of the 6 month-cruise !! Return to a few weeks off and start the whole cycle again... training new crew, new maintainers, and new officers. 3 WestPac cruises in 5 years... including the Gulf War
Then off to work as an instructor for 3 years training the kids (sweet duty working 8-4, 5 days a week).
Another 5 years of sea-duty, and then my commission and 4 years of sea-duty as an LDO.

In the Marines, we continue to train in preperation for deployment. This consists of convoy operations, tactics and weapons training. Once the call is given, the unit will already be prepared to deploy at a moments notice.

Depends on your MOS, if your special forces or something you are always doing some kind of operation but the media doenst hear about it ebcause its classified. We have many military campaigns going on all over the world even when not in times of war.

Train for war...that is why we are so good...everything is instilled in us...your daily routine depends on your MOS and what type of Unit you are in...there are many variables...if you are in a field unit you are either getting ready to go to the filed or recovering from the filed...if you are in a garrison unit...it is like a regular job, except for PT and other things like that...

There is still work to do. They go on missions - where they simulate situations and handle them. They get deployed to different regions.
