How do you make crystal potpourri ?

I've been looking for an easy (and cheap) way to make crystal potpourri - or the crystals for it (I know how to scent and color them). I found one recipe with salt dough -- smelled good but not what I'm looking for. I found many recipes to grow crystals but it takes a long time - there are recipes that scent and color jumbo sea salts - this is great - but still a big expense (for quantity).

Is there a way to make crystal potpourri cheap and fast ??? or at least cheaper and faster than I found so far ?
