A group in my community is going to give a scholarship to someone in the area, but I haven't lived here all of my life. I've only been here for four years as opposed to a lot of people who have been here their whole lives, but I really want the scholarship. To apply, you have to write, in letter form, an essay describing yourself. Is it possible for me to win if I write a really great essay, even though I'm not from around here? And can someone help me to do so? I'd like to look over some good examples of such technical writing, but don't know where to start... a little help, please?
Thanks in advance. =)

Thanks so much. XD Sounds like it could work. I had another slight question, though. How do you begin such a letter? "Dear whoever"? Hahha, doesn't quite seem to fit.
