There is some concern that it can deform a child's thumb and cause problems in the mouth. Have you tried putting lotion on her hands? The taste might cause her to quit, and it won't hurt her in any way.

Jesus...it could cause all kinds of harm..
Your baby will have a water logged thumb and buck teeth....
Nah..don't be silly..just make sure you wash his hands so he doesn't get sick....but you should think of stopping him soon from sucking his thumb....or get a good dental plan..

thye are showing now that it doesnt do any harm. unfortunately you cant take their thumbs away lol. have you tried using a pacifier, that way you can take that away in a few months. your abby is only 2, so i wouldnt worry about it. i know a few people who are in their 20's who actually still suck their thumbs

My sister sucked her thumb until she was about three, and my mom finally broke her of it by making her wear mittens or socks over her hands when she caught her doing it. It sounds silly, but it worked.

It won't do any harm whatsoever. In fact, my 21 year old brother still sucks his thumb (no joke!).

they make this clear nail polish that taste really bad, some parents put tobasco sauce on their childs thumbs. sometime it causes the teeth to shift and sometimes it doesnt do anything.

it messes up his teeth, and this is gonna sound mean but it works. Take his thumbs and dip them in vinegar. he'll quickly learn to stop.

he might be teething. once he gets his baby teeth in it will hurt him so he sucks on his thumb to soothe himself

It can mess up his baby teeth or form an over bite
