i have a tattoo on top of each of my feet. i have had lots of tattoo work done and i will tell you that it hurt SO freakin bad! it really did. i really don't have anything to compare the pain to it was a sharp constant pain with moments of even more intense pain. and i am great with pain. atleast not showing my pain. to my credit my artist did tell me that i was probably going to cry and i didn't. you should bring some gum to chew (so you don't hurt your teeth when you are gritting them) and you should bring something to occupy your time. i always bring a book because it kindof distracts me from the pain. the pain is bad but it is bearable. if it was so bad i wouldn't have gotten a bigger tattoo on the other foot right?
also, you will have to wear flip flops for two weeks. your foot will most likely swell up and look gross. for the first day or two it will ooze a clear liquid. it's fine! you'll need to wash it more than you would a regular tattoo because the feet do the walking they tend to get more dirt and stuff on them especially when you have lotion and stuff attracting dust. keep it elevated as much as possible to promote faster healing and don't try to wear shoes or socks early because the swelling has gone down and it doesn't hurt as bad. i tried that and it just made my foot hurt again.
good luck!!!

I have a friend that had her foot tattooed and she said it felt like a really bad sunburn - a lot of stinging. But she's glad she had it done. She has no tolerance for pain, so I'm sure you'll be uncomfortable, but if you're used to other tattoos, then you should be fine. She had it done in Hawaii - a sea turtle with a red hibiscus flower in the middle.

I haven't personally got a tattoo but my older sister has. She has one on her foot and she has her belly button, ears, and at one point her tongue pierced. She has had waxings done and she said that the tattoo tickled but didn't really hurt. She also has two other tattoos and she has had a kid. I think that you would be able to stand the pain. Don't be nervous, being nervous causes you to think about the bad things and not focus on the good things.

I've got a tattoo on the side of my left heel. Feet, like anywhere without a lot of muscle and/or fat layers, hurt like hell when you get a tattoo there. But I recommend that you do it anyway - knowing you have the strength to bear such an ordeal is a tremendous ego boost, and you will instantly win the admiration of any tattoo-savvy person you show it to.

(And yes, of course you'll be nervous going in - that's part of what makes it such a rush once it's done and you're congratulating yourself on making it through.)

A lot of places won't tattoo the foot because it's supposed to be bad for your feet or something. But I hear that it hurts REALLY bad...
