We have had a long standing rivalry with our neighbors...we are always trying to 'one-up' each other...and this is not a friendly rivalry. The police have been involved in some of our 'spats' so we have 'agreed to disagree' and don't speak to each other anymore...
Well, our family dog has disappeard (NO, I DO NOT BLAME THEM)...but since the disappearance, they have purchased a leash and walk up and down the street with this leash as if they were walking an imaginary dog.
What is worse, they stop on the street corners, get down on their knees and pretend to pet their imaginary dog. They even feed it food and water.
I know for a fact they are doing this to get under my skin...and its working. What kind of sick person makes fun of a missing dog...and worse, walks an imaginary dog up and down the street??
Because of our agreement, I cant' verbally confront them, so how do I make them stop???

Why are you watching them do this behavior, it's the only fuel to the fire they have. If you're not looking they would only appear crazy to others and quit. That is sick and perverse. Stop creating the behavior by noticing it.

First off -your right they are deeply sick.
That would get undermy skin too. This is hard to deal with. However, you agreed to not talk but, what are they doing? Tormenting you and your family. You can either ignore them and act as if you dont see them (the whole family will need to do this) because once they arent AFFECTING you or getting a response then they will stop. If they are Taunting you -like you can still hear them outside -then file a "noise" complaint to the police and also discribe what there doing. OR -you could really "Get on up on them" by calling the police anyhow and describing what there doing and that you think there actions may be Teasing from their GUILT -remember no to leave any suspects out of the picture and they sound suspicious to me. Think of the Police going over there house to ask them about there behaviour and the mere fact that the dog is missing makes them look suspicious perpetrators. They will really think twice about tormenting you again -the Humane Society is affiliated w/ the police here in Ga. and I had to call the police just to get the humane society to get an neglected dog from our neighborhood. So try both Police and humane society for answers. Hope this helps. Dont forget if the police ask you if you believe there was any fowl play involving the dog -say YES -your dog has never went missing before and how your neighbors have been now and prior to all this.

If you are not on speaking terms with them then how do they know your dog is missing? I would contact the police and tell them the situation. You've got a lost dog and someone is walking around outside with a leash and collar and an imaginary dog. At worst the cops will have to come investigate it as a crazy person having escaped. And at best they will question the person as to the disappearance of your dog.

first Im sorry you lost your dog but harrassing you over it is childish. They are either animal haters or your dog was annoying them and they got rid of it. Check the local amimal shelters for your dog and see if hes there. On the other hand they should grow up.Its bad enough to loose a friend but to harrass you only makes it worse. I would be a prick and take pictures of the dumb *** or movies of them doing their crap an take them to the police and file harassment charges on them. The cops will then issue a warning with the proof you give them and if they do it again they pay stiff fines or go to jail. But you will still have to leave them alone and you will still have a bad nieghbor.Or go to the animal shelter in your area and show the pictures and they might investigate the disapearance of your dog.In this day and age animals are treated like people. And your nieghbors need to get a life.

It sounds as though these people are quite imature. Don't stoop down to their level. You have to be the sophisticated person in this situation and simply laugh to yoursefl at their ignorance. Do not look at them, talk to them, or even acknoledge their presence. This will only give them the satisfaction of knowing that they got under your skin. If they approach you treat them professionally and avoid talking to them as much as possible. Use phrases such as " I really don't have time to talk right now. Have a great day." In other words kill them with kindness. This will frustrate them more than anything and once they see they are not getting under your skin they will give up on their quest. If the situation continues for more than a week then you can consider calling the police for harassment but only use this as a last resort. Just remember to keep your head up and a smile on your face because eventually their stupidity will get them in trouble.

First I am very sorry for the lose of your dog. I know that this is very heartbreaking. As we all know, there are certain people in the world that are "sick". I would just ignore your neighbors. They are the sick ones, acting like they are. Just keep your head up when ever they are around. They will eventually get the hint that you do not care what they are doing and it doesn't bother you anymore. Know that there are people in this world that "get off" on other peoples misery. Show them that you are the bigger person. (Did they take your beloved pet?)

Well first off, I'm sorry for you for missing puppy. I'm sure it will appear again. Perhaps you're neighbors are holding your dog? They could be blackmailing you. But I'm guessing not. I would get the police involved again and tell them about your insane neighbors. They may know where your dog is. If you find your dog again, I would get one of those microchips put into your dog so as if you lose the dog again, then you can go to your veteranarian and use it's GPS signalling to find your dog.
Good luck!

They may have had soemthing to do with the missing dog. I don't know how to get them to stop....but for some reason they are finding this funny. You may want to talk to the police about it. and say that you are not blaming them...but because they hate you so....you didn't know if they would do something like this.....look in the local dog pounds....they may have picked up your dog and taken it there.

Feel sorry for them.
Maybe their life is pointless and the only way they can feel good about them self is knowing that you give them your attention and your sorrow.
I bet they would be very upset if you made fun of them for pretending to have a imaginary dog.
Its good that you dont blame them..
but i would try to investigate still.
But like I said..
ignore them..
if they get upset and get out of line.. (like damaging ur property)
you can sue :)

First off, I'm really sorry about your missing dog.
Unfortunately there really is no way good to get your neighbors to stop. Bullies will be bullies as long as their tactics are working. Try ignoring them and don't let them see it is affecting you. Hopefully they will stop when they don't get a rise out of you.
