I beleive it is 4 less than adults, they have 28 versus us who have 32.

Children have 20 teeth until aroung 6 and then they have 24. At age 12 they have 28. Around age 18, if they develop 4 wisdom teeth, they have 32.

Average eruption times are below:
0 -7 months no teeth
7 months to 3 years, all baby teeth erupt and at around 3 must have 20, in both jaws, 10 in each.
3 yrs to 6 yrs as above 20
6 - 12 yrs baby teeth fall off, and replaced by permanent teeth, as well as new ones erupting behing the baby teeth. So at around 12 yrs must have 28 teeth !
12-18 years = 28 teeth
18-24 Wisdom teeth or last 3rd molars should erupt, giving you a total 32 teeth.

Begin erupting at app 8 months of age and are refered in dentistry as Letters from A-E, A-central incisor-B-Lateral incisor-C-Canine-D-1st Molar-E-2ND Molar!
