ORDINARY ORANGE PEEL, MY CAT USED TO ATTACK MY POT PLANTS, AFTER I ATE THE ORANGE I WOULD PUT THE PEELINGS IN THE PLANTER. I ALSO PUT THEM SCATTERED AT MY DOOR AND IT STOPS STRAY CATS SPRAYING, CUT INTO LITTLE PIECES IT DOES NOT LOOK UNSIGHTLY AND SMELLS NICE TO US, AND WILL TO YOU, ONCE YOUR CAT STOPS SPRAYING HIS OWN BRAND OF PERFUME. HAHA..GOOD LUCKOR RUB PEEL ON PLACES THAT YOUR CAT SPRAYS, IT MUST BE THE ORANGE OIL,THEY DONT LIKE.

I've had 2 cats for 10 years. 5 years ago, we moved into a new house. Both cats (females) started spraying. Apparently, the owner before us had 6 indoor cats. My cats felt like they needed to mark their territory. So we cleaned the walls and bought this spray from Walmart that repels cats from different things. We spritzed the walls with the spray and they haven't sprayed since.

Cats don't like the smell of tea tree oil. You can get it pretty much anywhere these days so go and buy some and put it in a spray bottle, Top it up with water and spray it along the bottom of your walls. Also make sure your cat has plenty to occupy it IE, scratch posts and toys. You can also get scratch boards that u fit on to your wall.

It sounds like he is feeling insecure and wants to mark his terratory.

I know what I am about to say may seem a little strange but beleive me it works.

We have a male ( He is already the alpha male ) who started spraying.
One day he really cheesed me of by spraying on my favourite peice of furniture, so I grabbed him by the scruff, carried him out to be back of the house and peed on him. ( Yes I'm serious, I did this for revenge ) and left him out there.
When he finally came in, I bathed him.

I could not beleive what happend next.
I became him his all time favourite person, he became very effectionate and stopped spraying.

The only thing I can put it down to, is that by doing that, in his eyes, I had scent marked him as mine and this made him feel more secure about his position in the family.

Extream, I know, but how annoying is the spraying becomming?

There is a product that you can buy at local home improvement store that will repel the cat from the area, check with them and they will show you the product.

I'm assuming it's not your cat....

Get a water pistol and spray it a couple of times. Works a treat and can be quite good fun!

once they start, they do not stop-even getting them nutered does not help. Best thing is to turn your house cat into a outside cat.

Paint a nice mural on the wall so he won't be tempted to write graffiti.
