No, part of the learning process is discovery. If a person is right all the time, there is no discovery.

There isn't enough time to discover and check the validity of all the information we learn in a life time.
In fact there more we learn the more we realize we don't know or can't know. Anyone that think he is totally right in every aspect of his knowledge is living in a delusional world. The only way anyone could believe he is totally right is is through invalidation, negation, justification, and avoidance of all other data the serves as opposition to his knowings. So true learning is halted.

Sure, you can build on beliefs, I think we all think we are right most of the time don't we? I know I do. Every now and then someone or something will come along that proves that my beliefs were not correct. It usually takes some convincing, but if provided with substantial proof, I will change a belief or opinion. I still think I am right, I just changed my belief system to continue being right.
Why would anyone believe in something that they weren't sure was right?

I don't think so. You have to have an open mind to learn, and if your mind is closed on you always being right, you will never learn anything except you are not.

Not really. It's like trying to talk to a brick wall because a mind full of arrogance will not absorb much... also like the analogy of Jesus' teaching about the seeds tossed onto rock, and the sidewalk vs. seeds sown in fertile ground (the open mind).

Everyone thinks their opinions are right! Who thinks what they truly believe is wrong? The question to ask is not whether you can learn if you always think you are right, but rather can someone who is closed to learning learn....
That is intuitively obvious.

Mind exists as a targeting system directing us through this world towards our goal. In order to reach our goal, our targeting system has to be able to perceive error and to make course corrections. Those who think they are always right lack this ability and often fail to realize how far off course they have gone until it is most likely too late to reach their target in this lifetime.

The person who has never made a mistake has never made anything. It is not possible to know everything and some problems have more than one solution. An open mind is preferable.

No.
Once you think you are right...or have an answer...or know,
learning stops.
But you also can not belittle or have faith in what you truly know from experience.
It is a fine line to balance upon.
