I'm 19, 5'2", and about 120 lbs. Apparently I'm not text book over-weight, but to the naked eye I am. I have always had the "pouch" I was in middle school and skinny everywhere but the spare tire region, which I don't understand, I was even a cross country runner at that time. My problem is that I cannot find a diet that will work for me and that I can actually stick to. I've tried several diets, fat smash, Hollywood juice, and some others. It seems like I can't even make it through one day without being completely starving, to the point of being miserable. I've tried eating fruits and veggies, which mostly I like, but if I don't eat some sort of junk or carbohydrate I am still ravenous. I don't really drink much soda at all, but I do drink gatorade and flavored water. I really just want to lean up a bit, get rid of the pouch and love-handles, and stop craving so much junk food! Any suggestions, foods, drinks, vitamins, easy exercise?

You don't need to diet, you need to tone and firm to get rid of the pouch. If you don't like doing exercises, try dancing a lot, race walking with a twist at the waist, or swimming. However, crunches work very well and you can get one of those exercise balls to do situps with. Don't lose the weight because your body may not be able to handle it. I'm 5'2" also and would never feel comfortable weighing less than 130. Doctors recommend 130-140 for this height. Go to a night club and dance away!

First of all, you aren't in need of a doctor, you're in need of exercise. You can try eating six small meals a day which stretches out the metabolic rate and, therefore, burns calories all day. And, don't eat before doing to bed or it will just lie there and be absorbed into fat. Exercise is your best bet. Craving junk food is because you know it isn't good for you - you're fighting with yourself over this diet thing. Use the six meals and exercise and you'll tone up! Good luck!

gain muscle. forget magic potions. Eat slightly less fuel than you need to get you through the day.
Learn the plank exercise. It won't burn fat directly from the abs, but it will tighten the muscles that are responsible for holding the pooch in.
gatorade and flavored water are good things to remove. Fluids should be from water. Gatorade or pediolite in dehydration cases. Try breaking off soda cold turkey and completely.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.
