I am a light skinned African American male. I have had black hair with blond mixed in (during the summer) on my arms and facial hair. As of late me beard has been turning red(during the winter). Has anyone seen this and knows what’s the cause?

The blonde that you see in the summer is more than likely alburn that the sun has lightened to blonde. If your hair is black or dark brown than more than likely you have either a red, orange, or golden undertone in it and that is what is causing the red to come out in your beard. Everyone has a undertone to their hair, they may or may not notice it but it is the reason for what some call natural highlights in the summer and a darker look in the winter.

my husband is the same......his little secret is he dyes the beard..it really looks better when he does....the red just looks out of place...they make a product out there for facial hair...it is safe and lasts about 6 weeks......hope it helps.
