A lot of restaurants use flavor enhancers as a secret ingredient, not well known to the general public.
Several years ago, a friend gave me a package of this stuff and I was amazed at the flavor of the coffee. The product then was made by Buisman. I think you have order this stuff from restaurant supply.
I also have always heard that the secret to the best coffee is the temp of the water. It has to be perfect to extract the flavor from the coffee grounds.

I had a Bunn coffeemaker at my restaurant. All the other restaurants I've worked for use Bunns. I don't know if they make a home version though.

I'm sure it's possible to buy a commercial one, I see them in industry catalogs. But I believe you have to have a dedicated water line for it.

Try www.superprod.com. They have tons of stuff. Mine was on lease though so if there were ever any problems, someone else fixed it for free. And that was just build-up in the lines from the city water. Otherwise people loved the coffee.

I think that its really the type of coffe you use, not the coffee maker. I just have a standard Mr. Coffee, no bells or whistles, but we grind our own coffee. Everyone who comes to our house tells us that its fantastic.

To make really great coffee, I like to mix some fresh ground espresso beans in with the regular ground coffee. It adds a restaurant quality richness and flavor!
