It depends on who the relative is. If it is your dependent, no. Otherwise yes you can claim the credit. You will need their name, social security number, and address to fill out the form.

Note if you are married, you and your spouse must work, attend school full-time, or be unable to care for oneself.

Yes, but only if the relative is NOT claimed on your return as a dependent.

For example, if you pay your dependent mother to watch your kids so that you can work or look for work, you may NOT take the Dependent Care Credit for the payments made to her since she is your dependent. If she is NOT your dependent, you may claim the credit using the money you paid her.

Not totally sure on this but you may want to ask questions. As far as I know you can claim what you paid out in daycare. BUT! If they cross reference your taxes with the taxes of the provider, and that person did not claim the income, then you could be setting the provider up for a lot of problems. They can go after the provider to claim that money. At which point you are starting a lot of trouble for your relative. Ask the relative if they are going to claim the money you paid. If not then.........well. It's your life.

Yes, as long as the relative is not your dependent, your spouse, your child under age 19, or the other parent of your qualifying child.

You'll need to show their social security number on your return, and they'll need to claim the amount as income on THEIR return.

Yes, as long as the relative is not claimed as your dependent. You'll need their name, address and SSN for Form 2441. Also, make sure you agree on the amount you paid them and they will need to claim the same amount as income.

Yes but you need to report their social security number on your Form 2441. They will raise hell when you ask for it because then they have to report the income.
