But, my mom will NOT let me dye my hair. She says it is too expensive and I will have to dye it all the time, and she says I'll get bored with it, and want to go back to my natural color eventually but won't be able to. I want to lowlight it, and she's 'thinking about it'. Any color ideas? (i have slightly dark, multi-faceted blonde hair)

I also feel bored with my haircut. But I just got it trimmed, so I have to wait a couple months. My hair is about four inches below the shoulder with face-framing, long layers and a bit of side bangs. It is mostly straight, and I have an oval face.

I really need some ideas for a hair color or haircut, and ways to convince my mom. Suggestions?

If you're lowlighting with darker hair, go with some lowlights in a darker amber or reddish tone, but also maybe some brownblacks. Go with natural colours. Try to find shades that are your own colour but maybe a shade to two shades darker than your natural colour. If you live in the states you might try to find a Sally Beauty Supply there. Often the professionals there are very helpful if you ask for suggestions in lowlighting colours and products.
Might I suggest that if you are going to lowlight in a colour a shade to two shades darker, you might also check out a highlight that is one shade lighter (but not REALLY LIGHT) than your natural haricolour.

Haircut-wise, try a chin length cut that can be curled out or curled under (look at my profile for a similar cut). Ask for a razorcut for easier maintenance and a choppier look to your hair. It's shorter, lighter, and is a little different than your style now, but isn't a drastic pixie cut!

Good luck with convincing your mother. If it helps, I've been dying my hair since I was 12 years old, I haven't gotten bored, and at one point I DID go back to my natural colour, quite easily, by using a colour stripping product found at most beauty supply stores. It's an idea!

How about a A-line cut? Have it longer in the front about chin length and cut into a upside down V in the back. I used to have mine cut like that and loved it! That way if you want you can still put the front up.
I had my hair dyed blonde for years and I just went to my natural color. I get low lights put in it now and I don't get bored with it. Because I can change my low light colors. Also the low lighting isn't as expensive has color. Just stay away from colors in the red family. I love getting those types of color but they fade so fast. I'm talking a week or two.

Good luck I hope you Mom lets you.

depending on your face frame, I think a short Meg Ryan (early 2000's) like haircut is cute, sassy and fun. It's short enough to maintain, but long enough to still put it up if you need to. It's right above the shoulders and you can get a gel to give it some sort of a messy look. It look real cute for the color of your hair too. When it comes to coloring, try getting a box at the drug store. They usually cost about $8, and get stage 1 or 2 so it's not permanent and you can get the feel if you like it or not. DO NOT GET SUN-IN!!!!!! I made that mistake when I was in high school. My hair was never the same.

The bad part about low lights is that they will fade vey quickly and then you will be bored with your hair again. Blond hair has less protien, which is what hair needs to hold color, so if you add color for a low light it won't hold very well. You can do some fun styles that way you won't have to cut or color your hair to get a new look. Headbands are super popular right now, you can just sleep in some foam rollers to wear it curly, or you can clip in some fun color extensions and coordinate them with your outfit.

its not that expensive....only 5 dollars for some brands..which work well. but about 20 dollars for the ones that work really well. you dont HAVE to dye it all the time, there are shampoos that keep it the color. yes you have to dye it more than once but only like every 3-4 months. Tell her that if you are bored with ur hair color now you can't possibly be bored with it after you die it. it will be new and exciting.yes you might EVENTUALLY but then you buy more...or just bleach it. Ask her if you pay for the color dye, she will let you dye it...try cutting your hair shorter.or maybe curling it. i hope i helped

You can use Redken Shades EQ if you can find a salon who uses it; Cafe latae would be a real pretty shade to use, is a carmeal color; and the best part is that shades EQ is semi-permanent which means that it will only last threw six shampoos maybe alittle longer and the more you shampoo the lighter it gets, so if you don't like it you don't have to live with it forever. It is usally not as expensive, and it is actually good for your hair.

get choppy layers, frayed on the ends. you can try a zigzag part to make it look a little different.as far as color,i totally like low lights - id do a strawberry blonde in little pieces in front,a few chunks, and underneath.or a copper brown.but do a temp. color not permanent. They last and look good, but are not as bad/damaging as perm. and are easier to reverse. Try more bangs like jennifer love hewitt in ghost whisperer...or some hot rollers.as far as your mom,if $ is the issue,i would tell her i would do "chores" or something to earn the cash to pay for it,or something along those lines. There are at home kits that work just as well if you have someone with half a brain to do it for you.

No one is happy with what they have. I have straight hair and wish I had some curl. Your mom is right. It is a super pain to always color it. Try putting some hi-lights in it to bring out the blond. You can do lot style wise with your length but next time maybe cut it shorter so it has some swing to it

#1 how old are you? ....... #2 I would do all over color, for 1 it is cheaper but you have to have it done often as compaired to highlights. Highligts....which i would recommend....can be controlled if they are foiled....do not have it pulled through a cap, they cannot control the maout of hair that is being colored. But if she does change her mind.....save YOUR money and you pay for it but only with her permission......and you can have highlights that are a shade lighter than you natural color and that are in the same tone as your own.....Your hair cut sounds fine....but with the addition of highlights as I described will change the look of your hair cut....it will give your hair dimension and movement. but dont go for a drastic change...then you will have to have it done often.....if you go for what I described above....then you could actually go about 12 weeks b4 doing it again....ppl usually go 8-12 weeks anyway. and if you dont like it you can let it frow out. but hair is always more beautiful the more natural it looks....that is why I say to stay in your same tone and only a shade lighter than you are now.....good luck...but also understand from a mom point of view....this is also a sign that you are growing up.....and we do not want this to happen.....we hate to let go, and want to keep you our little girls as long as wel can.....one day you to will understand this.

attempt including some highlights. it is not as frightening as changing the colour all mutually. i in my opinion think of longer hair is extra versatile. you are able to attempt experimenting with distinctive up do's that isn't contain any long term dedication like a hair cut back would.
